116 - We’ve Moved!

March 21st, 2008

Sorry it has taken me so long to jump on here and post an update! Since my last post, our family has moved into our new home due to foreclosure on our previous Landlord. And what a blessing getting into on-post housing has been for us ALL. The house is beautiful and in a safe, family-friendly neighborhood. Just the mundane task of unpacking everything that is wearing on me now, LOL. My plan is to get back into my daily writing next week which also concludes Spring Break for school here.

I hope everyone is well and looking forward to Easter this Sunday! God Bless you all…

115 - Thankful Thursday

March 7th, 2008

Before I start into my Thankful list this week, I first need to say a HUGE ‘Thank You’ to all my dear bloggy friends who left such embracing and encouraging words for my WFW post!!  Having your thoughts and prayers to lift me up is such a blessing and I appreciate each of you!!

Wow, this week has been a whirlwind!  I thought for a moment I was coming out of my “funk” only to get some stinky news yesterday.  Before I tell you the news I will say that I believe it to be a response to an outpouring of prayer to the Lord earlier that morning - a prayer in which I asked cried out to Him to speak to me so clearly that even my humble ears could hear.

I opened mail yesterday as I normally do and not so accidentally opened mail that was addressed to my Landlord.  It was from his mortgage company - they are foreclosing on this house and I will have to move - NOW!  This might sound like a horrible situation, but this house has many flaws, some of which I was not so much aware of when we moved in.  I have contacted the nearest military base and they are currently processing paperwork for approval by the base commander to allow our family to move into family housing - this by the way is AWESOME!  To be back in a situation of military security and support is a blessing beyond words.  GOD IS GOOD - Thank you for hearing me and allowing me to hear You!

  • Lord I am thankful for You!  In Your grace and mercy alone I feel safe and worthy of the love you have for me.
  • G, I miss you so much right now that it hurts my heart - thank you for being strong and committed to something important.
  • Happy Birthday to my darling little 5-year old cutie - Mommy loves you and enjoys hearing your precious laugh everyday!
  • Mom and Dad I am so thankful to have you as my support and never ending supply of encouragement.

114 - WFW

scripture

Hey everyone! I know I haven’t posted in like a week….bad me, but I’ve been feeling down and blah. Every now and again the stresses of being without my loving husband get to me in a way I cannot describe. This time away from him is long and hard and I have to let myself be sad sometimes about it - this past week was my time.

Anyway, while browsing Photobucket, which I enjoy doing, I found this graphic which I thought was awesome so I just had to share with all of you for WFW. I don’t participate too often in this meme, but when I happened upon this scripture I knew I had to post. Just as I become overly sad at time about DH being deployed, I can relax and rejoice knowing that the Lord is there for me ALL the time!

113 - IOW

February 26th, 2008

I have been somewhat on a reading splurge lately.  Anything and everything I find on being more obedient to God and spending more time in prayer with Him.  This has also become a theme for me - prayer and my need for the special time just being with Him.

“Miracles have happened when God’s people come together in prayer.”
~ Billy Graham ~

There are so many testimonies providing valuable insight into the ability of prayer to work amazing things in peoples lives.  Sometimes the results aren’t immediate and we feel let down or think that He isn’t listening, but He is!  All that He desires for us will be revealed in His time not our own.  Part of praying dutifully is knowing that the answers will come when the time is right - that time is only God’s.  We may see some prayers answered quickly or sooner than others, but all we really need to remember is that He has the infinite power and knowledge - to Him we should be thankful that all things will be done by His will in our lives.  This lifts a huge weight off of us by knowing He is in control at all times and seasons!

Be sure and visit Beloved Mama for more IOW and to read other’s thoughts on the power of prayer!

112 - Holy Habits Monday

February 25th, 2008

Today our scripture focus is 1 Corinthians 10:5

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

This is an area of my walk with Christ that needs some serious work!  I love my Bible and I enjoy reading His word, but I don’t always have the knowledge of where to go in the Bible when I am looking for something to comfort and/or guide me (I still have to look at the index to find most of the Chapters, LOL).

I also find it strangely perfect that each week Elisa seems to be speaking directly to me!  How is it that she knows the things that are on my heart?  The only answer is that God is using her as an instrument for my closer walk with Him!!  As most of us can probably relate, I am my own worst enemy - meaning I use words about myself to myself that do NOT portray the Lord’s feelings for me and my life.  I seem to spend to much time “in the moment” and not enough time in the thoughts before the moment.

A scripture that I have found to be one that most drives me and sustains me when my thoughts are not where they should be is this one:

“I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil. 4:13

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you today with an aching heart and a mind that desires first and foremost Your thoughts!  I pray today and each day that You would enter my mind and set it soley on Your sights which will transform my life to one lived for you!  In Your’s son’s name, Christ Jesus, I pray now and forever.  Amen.

111 - Frugal Friday

February 22nd, 2008

Okay, so I’ve come to the determination that I am in no way frugal, LOL.  I buy what I want when I want from the store so long as I’m within my spending limits for the pay period.  This plan works for the here and now, but we aren’t exactly “saving” any money.

One thing I have changed recently is the buying of juice pouches such as Capri Sun.  I was buying in upwards of (2) boxes per week and allowing that to the the children’s self-sufficient beverage - meaning something they could get on their own without my assistance.  However, those things are purely a matter of convenience and with me being home 80% of the time there is really no excuse for me not being able to pour them or to help pour them a drink!  We have now put those on reserve for trips in the car or for when we are going to be away from the home for extended periods of time.

We also have made more use out of sugar-free powdered drinks (i.e. sugar-free Kool-Aid).  Wal-Mart has them in a package of 4 (each makes 2 quarts) for under $2!  We make a gallon pitcher of this and it lasts for several days as it is only offered once per day to limit the amount of sugary beverages they consume.

I’m sure many of you have other awesome ways you are saving money for your family, so head on over to Biblical Womanhood and post a link to your “Frugal Friday” post!
